Even the best laid plans change sometimes. If you need to change your train ticket, the information below should tell you everything you need to know. To make it even easier, we don’t charge you any fees to change your journey.
All ticket amendments should be requested where you originally bought your ticket. For tickets purchased through another retailer, you'll need to get in touch with them directly for advice on changes. If you bought your ticket at a station, you can go to any staffed ticket station to change it.
The way you change your ticket depends on two things: the type of ticket and how you bought it. Bear in mind that if you want to change your train ticket, you will need to do this before travelling.
Super Off-Peak, Off-Peak and Anytime train tickets can be changed to a different time, date or route.
Advance fares can be changed to a different time and date only. We ask that if you do need to make this change that it’s done prior to 18:00 the day before you’re booked to travel.
Tickets bought on our website or app
To change an eTicket, you will need to purchase a new ticket and submit a refund claim for the original. This new ticket will need to be for the same route and have the same origin and destination stations. It will also need to be purchased before the departure date and time of the original booking.
Please select ‘Change of Journey – new journey booked’ as the reason when submitting your refund claim and also provide your new Booking Reference number.
If you want to change an uncollected paper ticket, log into My Account, select your booking, view details and amend your journey. If your journey is more than six working days away, we'll send your new tickets to you. If your journey is sooner than this, you'll need to visit a staffed ticket office to amend your paper tickets.
Alternatively, contact our support team at 0345 600 1671 or email tpe.websupport@tpexpress.co.uk for help.
At a station
Go to a staffed train station and speak to a member of ticket office staff who will be happy to help.
From another company or third party
If they’re paper tickets, then you can change them at any staffed ticket office. If they’re eTickets however, you’ll need to contact the retailer from where you purchased them.
