If you’re 60 or older you can make great savings on your train travel and days out with a Senior Railcard.
Age shouldn’t stop you from having adventures, which is why the Senior Railcard offers 1/3 off train journeys across Great Britain – even on First Class tickets and there are also loads more discounts and offers for you to enjoy too.
As well as saving 1/3 on your train tickets, if you’ve got a Senior Railcard you can get all kinds of deals on days out, meals, treats, events and holidays. From theatre tickets and spa days to staycations and trips abroad, there’s a huge choice of activities and entertainment.
So, if you’re visiting one of the TransPennine Express destinations in the North of England or Scotland, check out the other Senior Railcard offers and discounts to make the most of your day out, weekend away or holiday.
You can get a Senior Railcard if you’re 60 years old or over and you can apply for the Senior Railcard two weeks before you turn 60. Once you’ve got your railcard, you’ll have to wait until your 60th birthday before you can use it.

The Railcard can be used against a number of ticket types including anytime, off peak and advanced fares.
If you want to take advantage of cheaper train tickets, you’ll generally have to avoid travelling during morning peak hours, Monday to Friday. This rule doesn’t apply if it’s a Bank Holiday though, so you can still save 1/3 on your train tickets if you’re going away at Easter or over Christmas, for example.
Please note discounts are not available on tickets for travel on morning peak services for journeys that start and end within the London & South East area, apart from Bank Holidays.
A Senior Railcard costs ÂŁ30 for one year, or you can get even more value for money if you buy a three-year railcard, as it only costs ÂŁ70.
