Buy in advance - book First Class Advance Purchase tickets and you could save over 50%. Advance tickets have to be used on the specific train chosen at the time you book and offer great value for money.
On the day – decided to treat yourself last minute? Upgrade your Standard Class ticket on any TransPennine Express service on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays with our Weekend First offer. The price depends on how far you’re travelling but will cost either £10, £15, £20 or £25 per person one-way. Simply find an unreserved First Class seat and pay the Conductor for your upgrade. Subject to availability.
Seatfrog - if you’ve booked a Standard Class ticket, you can use the Seatfrog app to bid for a last-minute upgrade. Auctions open 24hrs before departure.

Yes! If you’re travelling on weekends or bank holidays you can make the most of our Weekend First offer. This means that an upgrade will cost just £10, £15, £20 or £25 per person one-way depending on how far you’re travelling.
On weekdays the fare will differ depending on your journey. Where upgrades are available, the conductor will assist you in paying the difference in fare between your original ticket and a First Class ticket for your specific journey.

Complimentary food is included with your First Class ticket on specific routes at specific times. The menu depends on the type of train you’re on and the time of day that you’re travelling.

The First Class area is usually in Coach E on our Nova fleet or in carriages C or G on our Class 185 trains. Take a look at the seating plan here.
You can travel on board our trains with your pet – free of charge. You can bring up to two dogs on the train and they must be kept on a lead for the duration of the journey.
Smaller animals must be kept in a pet carrier.
Pets must not sit on tables or seats – we ask this for the comfort of other passengers travelling without pets.
Guide and hearing dogs are welcome on board too and staff will be happy to support you if you need assistance.
