If you've served in His Majesty's Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve) or Merchant Mariners and have seen active duty, you may be eligible to save 1/3 on train fares with the Veterans' Railcard.
The Veterans' Railcard is for anyone who has served for at least one day or more in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve) or Merchant Mariners and have seen duty on legally defined military operations.
It will offer savings of 1/3 off most rail travel, whether visiting family and friends or simply enjoying a day out. You can also nominate a companion to get 1/3 off when travelling with you and up to 4 children travelling with you get 60% off.
You can use your Veterans' Railcard for a 1/3 off standard and First Class anytime, off peak and advance fares across Great Britain.
A £12 minimum fare applies to all journeys made before 10:00 Monday to Friday. The minimum fare does not apply on Bank Holidays or in July and August.
You can use your Veterans' Railcard as many times as you like on valid journeys before its expiry date.
The Veterans' Railcard costs £30 for one year, or £70 for a 3-year Railcard.

Apply for a Veterans' Railcard
You can renew your Veterans' Railcard online by logging into your account, selecting renew, checking your details and paying the fee. If you bought your Railcard online in the first place, you’ll get an email reminder before it expires.
You can renew your Railcard within one month of its expiry date – so make sure you make a note of when you need to renew so you can get a new one in plenty of time and don’t miss out on any savings.
If you have a physical Railcard and lose or damage your Railcard or it is stolen, you can apply for a replacement.
You will only be issued with one replacement of a physical Railcard in any 12-month period, and you will need to pay an administration fee of £10 unless your physical Railcard was stolen and you have a crime reference number or documentation issued by the Police.
Collect 2 points for every £1 spent on train tickets
If you’re 60 or older you can make great savings on your train travel and days out with a Senior Railcard.
If you regularly travel with the same person for work or pleasure, you could save money on your trips with a Two Together Railcard.
