Love to brunch? Live in York or planning a trip soon? York is home to a diverse brunch culture, whether you want an indulgent Eggs Royale with smoked salmon, or a vegan all day breakfast. Here are some of our favourite brunch spots.

The Ivy

For a classy weekend brunch head to the Ivy in York. Located in St. Helen’s Square, just a 10-minute walk from York station, the Ivy serves up brunch from 11am to 3.45pm. Tuck into Eggs Royale with smoked salmon or buttermilk pancakes with a revitalising smoothie or paired with seasonal cocktails.

The Star Inn The City

For a true British brunch visit the Star Inn The City in York. Voted in the top 100 Brunches and Sunday Lunches for 2024, you’ll find a menu packed with brunch classics. The Eggs Benedict and English breakfast are the stuff of dreams. Make your way down from 9.30 to 11am from Friday to Sunday.

Partisan

Partisan in York is an independent family-run café that caters to all food lovers. Fresh and local ingredients are behind its wonderful all-day breakfast menu. For vegans, go for the breakfast skillet of scrambled rose harissa tofu, tempeh, mushrooms, vine tomatoes, homemade baked beans, home fries, avocado and chimichurri. It’s mouth-wateringly good.

Dyls

For a quieter and relaxing time, discover Dyls in York. This independent family-run business is situated in the iconic motorhouse on Skeldergate Bridge, overlooking the River Ouse and Clifford’s Tower. Come in summer and enjoy al-fresco dining and beautiful river views. Treat yourself to fantastic coffee, freshly baked pastries and light bites.

Double Dutch Pancake House

For a brunch that’s a bit different, why not go for pancakes? This family-run place is the only pancake house in York centre, and they’ve got a huge menu of every kind of pancake you can think of. There’s sweet and savoury pancakes, breakfast pancakes (even a granola pancake!) and of course, milkshakes and waffles. This is one you won’t want to miss.
