We know that the North and Scotland are jam-packed full of talent. So we created the Where Next Project to discover the regions' Future Stars in art, food and music. We then teamed them up with a local, expert mentor to help them on their way to greatness.
Our mentors Julia Bickerstaff, Shaun Keaveny and Tony Singh are passionate about cultivating home-grown Northern talent. Heavyweights in their fields, learn more about the Where Next Project mentors, their inspiring careers and experiences taking part in the Where Next Project.
We launched a region-wide search to find the cream of the crop in art, broadcasting and food and drink. Our finalists then got the opportunity to be mentored by a legend in their field through a number of face-to-face meetings and online coaching. As well as mentoring, Future Stars were given a platform to show the North and Scotland just what they could do - from podcasting to specialist pizzas and everything in between! Read about our Where Next Project mentees, their journey and their unique skills.
Our Future Stars were given the opportunity to display their talents at our Where Next Project showcase at Huddersfield Station in November 2016. Although the event marked the end of the project (for now!), the careers of our mentees will no doubt develop, and the North will continue to be an inspiring cultural nerve centre for art, music and food for years to come.
